R02 Tender Rock: beige KORDEKO flexible stone for a calm, warm facade

Some facades are built around contrast; others create their main impression through calm. R02 Tender Rock belongs to the second category. Its soft beige tone gives the surface visual warmth, while its pronounced stone texture prevents it from becoming a plain, monochrome wall.

R02 belongs to the ROCK STONE series and is listed in the current KORDEKO range as Tender Rock, the beige flexible tile with a natural stone relief.

Beige that does not compete with the architecture

Tender Rock works well when a facade needs to look cohesive and understated. This shade does not require a complex colour scheme. Instead, it can serve as the building's base colour, with windows, roofing, wood, metal or individual dark details defining the house's character. R02 pairs especially naturally with:

• natural and wood tones;
• brown or graphite roofing;
• black window frames;
• bronze and dark metal elements;
• light-coloured plaster;
• greenery around the house.

Why R02 looks especially interesting in natural light

Beige changes noticeably depending on the surrounding light. In bright sunlight the surface appears lighter and cleaner. In soft evening light the shade becomes warmer. In overcast weather the stone structure itself becomes more prominent.

This matters particularly with textured cladding: the facade does not look the same in the morning, afternoon and evening. Tender Rock is therefore interesting on large walls, where light can gradually move across the surface and emphasise different areas of relief.

A house that belongs in its landscape

Not every project needs to stand out as much as possible from its surroundings. For houses beside gardens, green spaces, stone paths or wooden terraces, a more natural palette often works better. R02 can connect the architecture with the landscape.

For example, beige stone can cover the building's main volume, complemented by:

You do not have to clad the entire house

• individual projecting volumes;
• balcony areas;
• inner courtyard walls.

Thanks to KORDEKO's flexibility, the material can be applied not only to flat surfaces but also to more complex architectural features. Tender Rock for interiors: an alternative to stone that feels too cold

Indoors, R02 reveals a different character. White stone can create a strong contrast, while very dark textures can dominate a room. Tender Rock sits between the two: its stone surface remains noticeable, but its colour does not demand all the attention. R02 can therefore be used for:

• TV feature walls;
• living rooms;
• areas beside staircases;
• entrance halls;
• reception areas;
• restaurant or hotel walls;
• columns and decorative niches.

The combination with warm lighting and natural wood is particularly appealing.

Stone texture without heavy cladding

Tender Rock gives the visual impression of a massive stone surface, but the cladding system itself is considerably lighter than traditional stone. KORDEKO flexible tile (PletaFlex) has a mineral-polymer structure, retains its flexibility and, according to KORDEKO's technical description, weighs approximately 4 kg/m². Its thickness is around 2.5–5 mm, depending on the specific series and relief.

This is especially convenient when a pronounced stone facade is wanted without building a heavy cladding system.

R02 and an insulated facade

Tender Rock can serve as the final finish in an external thermal insulation system. With this approach, facade insulation provides the wall's thermal performance, while R02 forms the outer decorative stone-look layer. KORDEKO materials list flexible tile as one of the finishing options for facade thermal insulation systems; the European assessment documents for such systems (EOTA) treat insulation, reinforcement and finish as one whole.

For a private home, this makes it possible to combine understated beige architecture with a complete insulation system without limiting the appearance to standard plaster.

Where Tender Rock's character comes through best

R02 is particularly interesting for projects that seek not a "wow effect at any cost", but a thoughtful, calm and visually enduring design. It suits houses in natural settings, urban villas, small commercial buildings, hotels and interiors featuring natural materials.
